Film Production - Casting

For our film opening we have three characters featured in it. Jeremiah, Jon Love, and Allie. Playng our characters will be Jeremiah Swafford (Jeremiah), Velouria Gaetner (Allie), and Renee Eduardo (Jon Love). Being our film is based off of a military couple we looked for a couple in our schools JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Course) program so we can have some authenticity. All of our actors are apart of our JROTC program at Sarasota High which helps with the accuracy of the behavior in our film. Velouria and Renee are a real life couple who both plan on going into the military. This factor helps with the emotions and the natural chemistry they both have to play Jon and Allie. Jeremiah had shown interest to Tamara and Me about being in our media studies film opening and there was a third person written into the script that we needed to fill and he wanted it.

Film Production - Schedule Filming

We plan on filming our films beginning on the week of December 9th -13th. It is the week that most of our team and our actors and film the best. The goals are to start and complete the filming this week. We plan to film the send off in the early afternoon and hopefully use editing techniques to simulate a dawnish appearance of the day. The "deployment" shot portion of our film would need to be filmed in the afternoon outdoors. The rest of the filming portions take place inside buildings with no specific time of day to film that section. The first thing we will film will be the send off scene on Tuesday, December 12th, in the driveway as planned. There is also a possibility of filming Jeremiah handing Jon the letter on this day but if there isn't time we can film it the folowing day. We will then film the rest of the film opening on Wednesday and Thursday after school and during our lunch periods if available.


During Filming there were a few bumps with issues getting everyone there for it but we were able to have on of our group members fill in for that role. Filming took about three days to get all of the footage. We filmed in the JROTC room for our voice over along with Renee's driveway and yard for most of our filming. The filming went 
smoothly overall. 

Film Production - Script

The film opens with the male lead, Jon Love, getting deployed and hugging his girlfriend, Allie, goodbye. The rest of the film would show how a deployed soldier deals with a break up in a long distance way after getting a "Dear John" letter.
