Project Selection - Film

The aspects of film production that interest me are: directing, sound mixing, casting, and script writing. Watching examples such as Ferris Bueller's Day Off, All the President's Men, and Newsroom have given me a multitude of options ranging from comedy to a serious scene and what qualities make it more impactful. I have experience in acting and performing in shows and short films; this advantage would heighten my ability to understand casting and script writing and how to portray it correctly to give the maximum effect. I'm taking a directing class this school year which is teaching me the elements of casting and directing a production. This will teach me great insight into putting up a good production. I am a musically inclined person and have been apart of many choirs and am constantly listening to all types of music. With music being such a big part of my life, this gives me the advantage of being exposed to all types of songs that could be used as incidental music; However, a difficulty I could face with this project is minimal behind the camera experience and not necessarily knowing all the ins and outs of directing a production. 

Project - Selection Magazine

When it comes to print journalism, aspects that interest me are the layout designs,the communication used, and the teamwork in print journalism. Seeing examples in class such as: Nixon, All the President's Men, Page One-The New York Times, and Newsroom has given me the opportunity to be exposed to multiple approaches of print journalism. The skills I have that could potentially make the magazine project a good fit for me would include my communication and artistic abilities. I enjoy doodling and creating random designs using shapes at different angles in my spare time to try and fit different designs within the borders. Doing this, I feel that picture placement in a layout would come easily to me to make a magazine page more visually appealing to the readers. I enjoy talking to people and learning about them. Doing the magazine project, this skill would be helpful for interviews needed in the articles written; However, I do not read magazines very often which would be detrimental to my research so I would need to research different magazines to have a better understanding of magazines and layouts needed for the project.
